Second year New Media Publishing student Andrew Henry recently became the second place recipient of the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association Rossini Scholarship. The scholarship competition consists of three tiers totaling $20,000 in awards. Applicants are reviewed based on the project charter that they submit, as well as other academic merits. The project must focus on flexography and be beneficial to the industry. Andrew and the other recipients will be flown to the annual FTA Flexography Convention in Orlando, Florida from May 3-6, where they will be announced to attendees of the convention. Recipients will have until September 1 to complete their projects and present a thesis on their research. Additionally, the projects will be published in FLEXO magazine.
Andrew’s project proposal is the creation of a fully printable manganese dioxide cathode on paper using flexography. Ultimately, the goal of the project will be to develop a completely printable battery on paper. Andrew is honored to be the first RIT student to receive this prestigious scholarship.
